The Iris Scanner, also commissioned by the Science Museum, is part of a hands-on interactive in use in one of it's galleries.
Visitors look into a viewer where they can see a live close up view of their own iris. A picture is then taken and visitors undertake to pick out their own iris amongst pictures of a number of previous visitors. The exercise should prove that each eye is unique in it's make up and therefore ideal for ID purposes.
